For many years the old building of Valkotta wasn’t available to general public.

This was always “a house for the chosen ones”. Before the revolution it was a residence where London governesses lived; after that the professoriate of the Moscow State University lived here. After the war, the residence on Patriarshie was a prim political hotel with the prestigious restaurant, where general public was not allowed to enter.

It was the beginning of the 90^th, when the hotel went under the Austrian company’s management, it was transformed into one of the high-class hotels of Moscow.

Nowadays, hotel “Marco Polo Presnya” proudly calls itself a 4-star hotel.
