Since 1988, Saint-Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry is located in the mansion of the Grand Duchess Olga Aleksandrovna Romanova, the younger sister of Nicholas II. Formerly the mansion built to the design by architect G.A. Bosse belonged to the princely family of Baryatinskiye throwing back to the Ryurikovichi. Then Nicholas II presented it to his younger sister. During several decades, since 1837, the palace was being built and rebuilt and by 1880 had acquired such compositional appearance that we can see it today.
Built by a project of architect G.A. Bosse, by 1880 the magnificent palace obtained the composition look that we see today: a solemn extended facade in the second rococo style, an enfilade of gala rooms on the first floor along Chaykovsky (formerly Sergiyevskaya) street and two enfilades in the east and west transversal buildings. The three-storey rizalits (extensions) give the palace a romantic look as they protrude above the main part. There is a driving arc on the central axis of each side building.
