The first “Weeks of Finnish Cinema” was accompanied by sceptic remarks and condescending grins of the public. Time has proven that there is no place for any jokes about about cinema from the land of Suomi. People have come to respect Finnish cinema in Petersburg, having realized that not only Aki Kaurismiaki makes great interesting movies there, but also “our very own” Ville Haapasalo is popular in his homeland.
